On Sexual Tolerance

Was homosexuality tolerated in pre-modern tribes? It's hard to know. But, if two men were caught having sex, any harassment they might have received wouldn't have carried the force of culture or code. The tribe wouldn't have had discovered enough gay acts to condemn them; their condemnation wouldn't have been frequent enough to form a tradition; nor would their traditions have solidified enough to form a moral code or bible.
