I'm moving to Austin, TX

It smacks me in the face everyday how high the cost of living is in Silicon Valley. I have to get a full-time job, most likely a desk job, to live decently. I've tried the full-time racket—and it's a great program if you like what you do—but, I have no idea what I want to do yet. Maybe I'm too impatient, but I won't go through the motions. It's sink or swim for me, and so I'm going to swim to less-crowded shores.
Austin should be fun. Some call it a Berkeley of Texas, and it sort of votes that way. SXSW, an important event in Internet culture, billed as "Music, Film and Interactive Conferences and Festivals," is held in Austin every year. So the tech scene there is rounded out which will be good if I need to freelance. It's a college town, with the University of Texas Austin at the hub. Friends who've been to Austin all want to go back. So hey, why not?
