Stinkin' Micro-demagogues

A pet peeve of mine is when someone too predictibly holds group conversations hostage by coming up with one statement after another that is ridiculously beyond reproach. "This country is going down the drain" or "people in the past five years have gotten sluttier, fatter, and aspire for more fame." What do you say to those people? It's so meaningless. "The political two-party system is just two sides of the same coin." "I hate that restaurant because too many hippies eat there." I have no response to those people, these micro-demagogues.

I try to avoid them.
