There's an interesting gallery of bird autopsies that show just how much plastic a bird will eventually ingest in a lifetime. On the reddit comments, someone mentioned, "I always thought animals had a better sense of what is and isn't food."
But what I love is the response:
"We mistake trash for food all the time, why would they be any different?"
