Where's our next Marx?

I feel like we need a new Karl Marx or Adam Smith. The last big dog in economics was Keynes, and we're still citing his Depression-era work, nearly a hundred years later.

This whole "big government" vs. "small government" just seems like an out-dated conversation about socialism. Haven't we moved past that?

Issues I'm interested in:

  • How has Walmart managed to become insanely profitable while externalizing so much harm?
  • Why do we still live in a world where there's less money in finding a cure for AIDS than there is helping patients live with it?
  • Don't we need a new model for "property" given how so much of our commerce is in services and intellectual property?
